When an HP printer is switched on,
the users get to see some messages on its screen. For the ones who are seasoned
users, these messages are easily understandable, but for the first timers, they
might seem a bit confusing. Let us decode those messages today so that
understanding them can be made much simpler.
- OFFLINE: The printer is not able to receive any data because it is offline. To make it operational, users have to press Online.
- WARMING UP: The printer is not ready to accept data and the user has to wait till the printer signals are ready.
- READY: Printer is ready to be used
- SELF TEST: The printer is printing a continuous self test. To stop it, the user needs to press Online
- CHECKING PRINTER: The printer is checking to see if there are any paper jams or some other paper that has not been cleared from the computer. There is no action required
- ACCESS DENIED: The panel function has been locked so that unauthorized access is not possible. The user immediately has to check with the network administrator.
- ROM DISK FILE OPERATION FAILED: This error usually appears when the users try to download a file to a non-existing folder. The user can correct it by trying to print again to an existing folder
This is not an exhaustive list as
there are a number of other messages that appear on a printer. Sometimes the
error messages are also not easy enough to be tackled by the users alone. Under
such circumstances, they can get in touch with HP Printer support experts.
